Business Core Curriculum
During their first two years at The University of Mississippi, Pre-Business undergraduates gain a strong liberal arts foundation that is complimented by basic business courses such as accounting, economics, business law and business communications. Students must qualify to be admitted into the School of Business Administration when they have completed 60 credit hours applied to their degree and move to junior class status.
The third (junior) year includes core courses in finance, information systems, management, marketing, operations management, and business statistics. As seniors, students take additional courses in their major field or fields, as well as business and non-business electives, to prepare them to achieve their specific career objectives.
All students seeking the degree of Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) from The University of Mississippi must satisfactorily complete the following core courses:
MATH 267 – Business Calculus I
MATH 268 – Business Calculus IIACCY 201 – Accounting I
ACCY 202 – Accounting IIECON 202 – Principles of Microeconomics
ECON 203 – Principles of Macroeconomics
ECON/BUS 230 – Economic Statistics I
BUS/ECON 302 – Economic Statistics II
MIS 309 – Mgmt. Information Systems
BUS 271 – Business Communications
BUS 250 – Legal Environment of BusinessMKTG 351 – Marketing Principles
FIN 331 – Business Finance I
MGMT 372 – Operations Management I
MGMT 371 – Principles of Management
MGMT 493 – Mgmt. of Strategic Planning
In addition, all students must successfully complete 24 credit hours of elective courses at the 300 level or above. 12 credit hours of elective coursework must be in non-business courses, 6 credit hours must be in business electives, and 3 credit hours can be in business or non-business courses.
