Robert G. Dye Sr., CLU
Dye Resource Management, LLC

Bobby Dye believes the most effective approach to financial planning is a “holistic” focus on, and assessment of, his clients’ goals and needs.

To succeed with this philosophy, the president/owner of Dye Resource Management, LLC, in Jackson has developed business relationships with some of the state’s most reputable attorneys, accountants, bankers, trust officers, insurance agents, money managers and other advisers. Dye and this team of specialists work to develop a unique financial model for each client’s long-range planning needs and goals.

“One of my greatest resources is access to a trusted network of specialists who can be called upon on an as-needed basis,” says the chartered life underwriter. “My strength is working with this advisory team and managing the interrelationships of various products and services to best serve our clients. The great Vince Lombardi used to describe successful teamwork as a form of ‘coordinated efficiency,’” he says.

For more than 23 years, Dye has helped clients establish sensible and well-structured financial, insurance and retirement plans. His office on I-55 North near County Line Road is managed by Debbie Currie, who has 30 years of experience in the industry.

One of Dye’s specialties can be found in the design and implementation of 412(i) retirement plans for small, highly successful business and medical firms. Dye and Larry Fortenberry, another Jackson businessman, are the endorsed providers of insurance services to all physicians who are members of the Mississippi State Medical Association.

Dye’s expertise is recognized on the national level, as he is a sought-after seminar presenter on financial planning topics, particularly the 412(i) retirement plans.

“The industry has changed so much over the years,” Dye says. “Financial planning now offers so many specialized products. The enjoyable part to me is working with clients to come up with long-range solutions and goals. I often pose this question: ‘If we were to meet again three years from today, and you were looking back over those three years, what has to have happened during that time—both professionally and personally—for you to feel happy with your progress?’”

Dye graduated from the School of Business Administration, which today offers a major in insurance and risk management. Because of the specialization of the industry, Dye is proud that his alma mater is providing such important training for future business professionals. The businessman, who attended college on a football scholarship, also devotes time to the Ole Miss First scholarship initiative because he believes in the university’s goal of helping young people benefit from education.

Dye uses three words as a tagline for his own company: “dynamic, innovative and resourceful.” Those same three words would be an appropriate description for his recent work on behalf of the university.

The businessman is helping the university’s alumni and friends set up new deferred giving plans as a practical way to help fund Ole Miss First scholarships. The plans involve a donor’s purchasing a life insurance policy with the university as the sole beneficiary. Ellen Rolfes, director of Ole Miss First and a university major gifts officer, along with Warner Alford, executive director of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, worked with Dye and others to create the program.

“We have developed a unique program that maximizes the contribution to the university and provides a tax savings for the contributor. A deferred giving program funded with life insurance is an excellent way for an individual or couple to make a significant gift to Ole Miss,” says  Dye, who is a member of the Ole Miss First Philanthropy Advisory Committee. “Working with this program is allowing me to meet some of the finest people around.”
