5 new faculty bring variety of skills to school

Dr. Mark N. Bing earned his M.S. in experimental psychology from Villanova University and his Ph.D. in applied psychology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. In 2002, Bing won the 26th International Student Paper Competition sponsored by the IPMA-HR Assessment Council. Before coming to The University of Mississippi, he served as director of the psychological screening program for the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Force. Bing has published articles on job performance, personality measurement, test development and test validation in journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Personality Assessment and the Journal of Business and Psychology.

 
 

Dr. H. Kristl Davison earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in industrial/organizational psychology from Tulane University. Before joining the UM faculty, she served as director of the master’s program in organizational behavior at the University of Hartford. Davison worked as a personnel selection specialist for GTE/Verizon and has consulted in the areas of compensation, performance appraisal and statistical modeling. She has published articles on test validation, personality measurement and employment discrimination in journals such as the Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Applied Psychology and Personnel Psychology.


Dr. Jun Yang, assistant professor of marketing, received her Ph.D. in business administration and M.S. in applied statistics from Syracuse University, and a Master in Economics from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She has taught marketing principles and marketing research at Syracuse University; she is teaching global marketing at Ole Miss. Her research expertise is in analytical and empirical modeling in marketing.

 
 


Dr. Seiji Endo, assistant professor of marketing, received his Ph.D. in marketing and business of the textile and apparel industry from Virginia Tech, and a master’s degree in service marketing from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. Endo also has a master’s degree in textiles and apparel. His research interests are mass customization and services.

 
 

Dr. Kathy Wachter, associate professor of marketing, earned her Ph.D. in retail and consumer sciences from the University of Tennessee. Her recent publications include “Effects of Off-Shore Sourcing on Textiles and Apparel,” “Value: A Retail Level Assessment” and “Web Retailers: A Longitudinal Study with Strategic Implications,” all of which were published in the Journal of Fashion Marketing Management. She has presented research at the Academy of Business Administration and European Institute of Retail and Service Sciences conferences. Wachter has also been a reviewer for papers submitted for consideration at the American Collegiate Retail Association conferences. Wachter currently is chair of teaching and innovative research for the International Textile and Apparel Association. She also brings retail management, buying and wholesale expertise to the marketing department.BF
