Bio:
Dr. Ken Cyree is Dean and the Frank R. Day/Mississippi Bankers Association Chair of Banking at the University of Mississippi School of Business Administration. Ken received his doctorate and MBA from the University of Tennessee. He is the Director of the Mississippi School of Banking and a faculty member at the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. Ken worked in industry as a Credit Manager in the textile industry for many years before entering academia.
Dr. Cyree's research interests are in banking, financial markets, interest rates, and market microstructure. He has papers published in the Journal of Business, Financial Management, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of Financial Services Research, and Financial Review along with several other academic journals. He was Vice President for the Program and is Past-President of the Southern Finance Association. He has also served on the nominating committee for the Eastern Finance Association In addition, Ken is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Business Research. Dr. Cyree was also awarded the Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2007 for the University of Mississippi School of Business Administration.
Ken has had numerous media interviews including National Public Radio (NPR), Mississippi Public Broadcasting, ViewPoint television, and the Dave Foster Radio Show. In addition, Dr. Cyree has been quoted in the Clarion Ledger, Hattiesburg American, Mississippi Business Journal, the Tupelo Daily Journal, among other newspapers. He has also spoken to the Conference of Bank State Supervisors, the Mississippi Bankers Association, and testified before the Mississippi State Legislature Banking Committee.
As Dean, Dr. Cyree has focused the strategic direction for the school on high-quality scholarship as evidenced by publishing in highly-ranked journals, as well as high-quality, relevant, and rigorous teaching. Through the hard work of the faculty and staff, the School of Business was recently ranked as a Top-100 ranked Business School by US News. Dr. Cyree was also instrumental in changing the Masters of Business Administration to a "flexible entry" program where students can enter part- or full-time, thereby increasing the number and quality of entering MBA students.
