- “Ole Miss” is the nickname for The University of Mississippi.
- Our location is Oxford, Mississippi, which is 75 miles southeast of Memphis, Tennessee. Oxford recently has been featured in Architectural Digest, Better Homes & Gardens, Money, Modern Maturity, Mother Jones and Time.
- Our insurance major was established in 1947.
- Approximately 125 students currently major in Insurance and Risk Management while more than 500 students take the basic risk and insurance course each year.
- Thirty-four firms attended our annual Insurance Careers Day this year.

- Recent graduates joined such firms as ACE Westchester, All Risks, Allstate, AmWINS Group, Arthur J. Gallagher, Brown & Brown, Cal-Maine Foods, Deloitte, Liberty Mutual, St. Paul Travelers, State Farm, and Willis.
- A partial list of recent summer intern employers includes AmWINS, Arthur J. Gallagher, Brown & Brown, National Association of Surplus Lines Offices, Pilgrim’s Pride, Sacred Heart Hospital, State Farm, Viking Range, and Willis.
- The Ole Miss Insurance Advisory Board, a group of 25 industry professionals, serves in an advising and support capacity. The current chair is John Wells of the Mississippi Department of Insurance.
- The Ole Miss Insurance Symposium draws over 250 industry professionals to campus each year for education (and fun).
- Private endowments exceeding $2,000,000 support the program.
- Scholarships exceeding $30,000 were awarded to insurance students this year.
- Dr. Larry Cox holds the Robertson Chair of Insurance and leads the program. He previously taught at The University of Georgia and New Mexico State University.
- Dr. Andre Liebenberg is Assistant Professor of Insurance. He previously taught at Old Dominion University and has worked as a risk consultant.
- Ms. Camille Mitchell serves as Project Coordinator and oversees all special events of the program.
