Career Coaching

Ole Miss B.B.A. students are provided the opportunity to participate in career coaching, a program to assist students in the fine-tuning of their career goals. This collaborative partnership between School of Business career coaches and students provides constructive support and motivating strategies for career planning.  Together, the coach and student identify goals for career planning and strategies for an effective job search. As a required component of Marketing 351, students schedule a 30-minute appointment with a Career Coach two times during the semester. Session 1 will focus on a student's business skills and Session 2 will focus on job preparation.
Participation is required for all students registered for MKTG 351 on the Oxford campus.

What will Career Coaching help accomplish?

  • To develop a high quality resume.

  • To identify current skills and to create a plan to develop a solid skill set.

  • To choose a major based on a student's interests, values and personality.

  • To create a resume geared toward obtaining an internship or full-time employment.

  • To develop interview confidence through coaching and interview questions.

CareerBeam and Career Coaching
In our continued commitment to your career advancement, the School of Business Administration and the Ole Miss Career Center have partnered with CareerBeam, a career management firm specializing in strategic career planning for college students.  All School of Business students have access to this user-friendly virtual career center technology.

The goal of CareerBeam is to integrate all phases and stages of the career development and job search process. CareerBeam makes available several assessments covering values, temperament, personality, interests, skills, and talent fit that culminates in a personalized career profile report for each student. In addition to the extensive self-assessment and resume preparation tools available, CareerBeam has also taken the best research databases on career opportunities available amd embedded these resources within a comprehensive career management platform.

To accompany the self-assessment results and resume preparation tools developed through CareerBeam, the Career Coach is able to assist students in the interpretation of the self-assessment results and provide you the opportunity to discuss in more detail your career options and how to refine your job search.  The goals for a career coach session will vary from student to student, but a student's active participation in the coaching process will clarify his or her's career objectives and enhance their job search strategies.
