UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

PRE-BUSINESS UNDERGRADUATE CURRICULUM 2008-2009

Pre-Business Program - The curriculum of the School of Business Administration will consist of a two-year Pre-Business program, plus a two-year major program wherein a student elects to major in one of the nine major areas of concentration. The nine major areas are Banking and Finance, Economics, Management, Managerial Finance, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Marketing Communication, Real Estate, and Risk Management and Insurance. Satisfactory completion of all course requirements at a grade point average of 2.0 or above will enable the student to earn the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.).

Students wishing to enter the Pre-Business Program must meet all requirements for general admission to the University. Students who score below 20 on the mathematics sub-score of the ACT will be required to earn a grade of C or better in knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) necessary for successful completion of the business major program. International students must score at a percentile level to be established annually by the School's Admissions Committee (generally expected to be at the 60th percentile or higher) on the TOEFL.

Business Major Program - In order to be considered for admission to one of the nine major programs (the Business Major Program) a student must successfully complete the pre-business program or its equivalent with at least a 2.0 grade point average.

Transfer Students - Students transferring into Ole Miss before the start of their junior year must be able to demonstrate competency levels in courses equivalent to those offered here at Ole Miss. In addition, transfer students must take and successfully complete (with a grade of C or better) the new Starting and Building Your Business course prior to enrollment into one of the nine major programs. The School of Business Administration reserves the right to administer competency examinations in those course areas (Algebra, Calculus, Accounting, Economics, Business Statistics and Communications) deemed relevant to assuring that transfer students possess the appropriate KSAs to successfully complete the major program. In addition, transfer students who have not taken the ACT may be required to take the ACT to demonstrate their capacity to succeed in the major programs. Those who score below 20 on the math sub-score, or those who have not taken the ACT and choose not to take it, will be required to take a college level algebra course and earn a grade of C or better.
